The Faculty Matters Workshop Series is designed to address key issues central to faculty development and success. This yearlong series is a collaboration between Faculty Affairs and Research Development Service. Each virtual workshop is mentored by experienced faculty and staff at Mason. Our goal is to have productive conversations and leave with concrete strategies and understandings of effective practices that can be tailored to the needs of Mason’s faculty. Faculty from across disciplines and fields of study are welcome to attend.

Have you questioned how to equitably establish authorship on your projects for conference presentations and scholarly products? You are invited to a discussion in which we will share best practices, explore the ethical dimensions of these decisions, and work through challenges to achieve transparent collaborations. |

Writing Workshop for Research, Scholarship, and Creative Work Statements Registration required, sign up here Wednesday, November 1, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Are you trying to figure out how to convey the impact of your research, scholarship, or creative work for promotion, renewal or tenure? You are invited to a discussion and writing workshop about preparing your impact statement. You will outline your research, scholarship, and/or creative work and learn strategies for developing and presenting it to peer and reviewer audiences. |

Navigating Politics in Academia Registration required, sign up here Tuesday, November 28, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Academic institutions and local academic units can be quite political, and it is not unusual for early career faculty members to land amid conflicts they don't know how to navigate (or get out of). Recognizing that it's not easy to extricate yourself from political conflicts without offending potentially powerful senior colleagues, you are invited to a discussion about navigating academic politics with experienced Mason professors who will share their experiences/ perspectives on how to manage this side of academic life. |
